‘Yoga is not about being able to touch your toes, it is what you learn on the way down.’

Yoga is more than just a physical practice, it is a lifestyle.

If you feel inspired to learn more about yoga as a lifestyle, then I invite you to practice with me at Concord Senior Citizen Club on Monday, Wednesday or Friday.

Yoga cultivates health and wellbeing (physical, emotional, mental and social) through the regular practice of a range of many different techniques, including postures and movement, breath awareness and breathing exercises, relaxation and concentration, self-inquiry and meditation

The body, mind and breath are seen as a union of each and every human being. Through practice one can gain clarity of the mind and inner peace. It is a system that supports the individual to find health and happiness, a greater sense of self-awareness and a higher level of consciousness.

Katherine teaches slow flow Vinyasa and Yin Yoga, both styles compliment each other.

Slow flow Vinyasa uses our breath to guide movement of our posture (asana). It feels dynamic, energetic, it strengthens different parts of our muscles and brings energy and flexibility to our body. With senior students, Katherine emphasises self exploration, mindfulness and safe practices.

Yin yoga works with deep connective tissues and fascia. Regular practice will increase flexibility and lubricate joints. Katherine teaches yin yoga with an understanding of meridian systems, chakras and organ health, using breath to guide our minds to surrender and calm our nervous systems. Yin yoga classes usually end with 15 minutes of mindfulness meditation. You will feel relaxed and refreshed when you walk out the door.

All yoga classes are concessional for Seniors (50 years and over) at Concord Senior Citizens Club 9-11 Wellbank Street, Concord.
